Don't Let Anyone Steal Your True Identity

1 Samuel 31:4-5 - Then Saul said to his armorbearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised men come and thrust me through and [b]abuse me.”

But his armorbearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. Therefore, Saul took a sword and fell on it. 5 And when his armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died with him.

In our text in First Samuel 31 we see that Saul's armourbearer committed suicide upon seeing Saul die. The Bible doesn't tell us the armourbearer's name and that is part of the problem, this man's identity was not his own identity, his identity was wrapped up in his relationship to King Saul.

Many people allow their own identities to be lost in the pursuit of someone else's. If something happens, God forbid, to that person and because they don't have their own identity or perhaps their identity is all wrapped up in the other person, they lose hope, putting them into a very bad situation like that of Saul’s armourbearer.

Heb. 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

When our identity is anchored fast in “The Rock,” The Lord Jesus Christ, we will never lose our identity or worth again. GOD bless, share with your family and friends.
