Be Richer in Christ Than in Earthly Treasures

Hebrews 11:24–26 — By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ as greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

Moses made a powerful and costly decision: to walk away from the wealth, status, and comfort of Pharaoh’s palace in order to identify with the people of God. He understood that true riches are not found in gold or power, but in faithfulness to the Lord. The fleeting pleasures of sin could not compare to the eternal reward that comes from obedience to God. In the same way, we are called to live with an eternal perspective. Though the world offers many temporary distractions and comforts, nothing can satisfy our souls the way Christ does. When we choose Him over worldly gain, we are storing up treasures in heaven that far outweigh anything we could accumulate here on earth.

Let us be encouraged to fix our eyes on Jesus and value the riches of Christ—His love, presence, and promises—above all else. Choosing Him may mean sacrifice now, but it leads to everlasting joy and reward. In Christ, we become truly rich—not in material wealth that fades, but in a life anchored in purpose, peace, and eternal hope.
